Amherst Historic Commission – Monday

Planning Board Public Hearing & Meeting – Wednesday
The Planning Board is hosting a public hearing as part of its meeting on Wednesday about the proposed development on University Drive at Amity Street. The project proposes to redevelop existing commercial space into an 85 residential unit and commercial space Mixed-use development. Wednesday, 6:30-9:30 pm on Zoom. MORE
Garden Party & Herbal Infusion Demo – Wednesday
Head to the Hitchcock Center on Wednesday for a garden party in the Center’s gardens. Enjoy a demonstration on how to make a variety of infusions with seasonal herbs and flowers and learn more about the work of the Hitchcock Center with Executive Director Billy Spitzer. Light refreshments from the garden will be served. Wednesday, 5:00 pm at the Hitchcock Center. Free. MORE
Whitey Morgan & The 78s with Taylor Hunnicutt – Thursday
Described by Rolling Stone as a “Waylon Jennings acolyte…modern day outlaw [with a] hard hitting blue-collar brand of music,” Whitey Morgan headlines a night of country at The Drake on Thursday. Also appearing is Taylor Hunnicutt. A gritty, soulful southern rocker steeped in country, Hunnicutt crosses genre lines to give audiences an engaging storytelling experience. Strings @ Strong – Saturday
The Amherst Historical Society’s annual Strings at Strong music series kicks off on Saturday. Held in the garden at the Strong House in the heart of downtown Amherst, the concert series offers a wonderful way to spend the afternoon outside enjoying local musicians. This Saturday, the FIKA Quartet performs. Saturday, 2:00-3:30 pm at the Strong House. Free. MORE

Hi Alison, One minor correction to your calendar listing: The Public Hearing at the Planning Board meeting this week is a part of our regular meeting. It is not a separate event that precedes a “regular” meeting. The hearing will come after we approve minutes and offer Public Comment. Then we have the Public Hearing, and after that we have other regular business topics. Thanks, Doug
