Five on Film: A Serious Man – Monday

Last but not least, Hampshire College takes the silver screen! On Monday, Amherst Cinema’s “Five on Film” series presents the Coen brothers’ A Serious Man, starring Fred Melamed, Hampshire College, Class of 1974. Co-curator Edward Wingenbach, President of Hampshire College, joins in person to introduce the film.

In 1960s suburban Minnesota, physics professor Larry Gopnik (Michael Stuhlbarg) learns that his wife is leaving him for his best friend, Sy Abelman (Melamed). Thus begins a downward spiral of existential proportions, leading Larry on a journey of faith, family, delinquent behavior, and mortality. Monday, 7:00pm at Amherst Cinema. $  MORE

Early Voting – Monday through Friday

Early Voting in Massachusetts has started and continues all this week, through Friday. Head to Town Hall, in the first floor meeting room, to cast your vote (and get your sticker)! In addition to the national and state elections, voters will consider five ballot questions. See a sample ballot here. Read more about the ballot questions – the Center for State Policy Analysis at Tufts University provides non-partisan research on all state ballot questions in these brief reports; and, the state voting information guide presents brief arguments from proponents and opponents of each measure, along with the report and recommendation of the legislature about each initiative. Early voting is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm in Town Hall. MORE
