ARHS Varsity Athletics at Home – Monday-Friday

Catch ARHS varsity athletes in action at home this week! Boys Basketball vs. Chicopee, Monday at 7:00 pm; Boys Hockey vs. Ludlow, Tuesday at 5:15 pm and vs. Easthampton on Thursday at 6:00 pm, both games at Orr rink; and Girls Basketball vs. South Hadley, Friday at 7:00 pm. MORE

Historic Commission Public Hearing & Meeting – Monday

The Historic Commission holds public hearings Monday to consider a request to demolish and rebuild a 2-story addition to the main house at 94 Lessey St. and to consider approval of the draft Historic Preservation Restriction and discuss proposed exterior alterations for Jewish Community of Amherst. Open House for Amherst Housing Production Plan – Tuesday

The Town of Amherst and Barrett Planning Group are hosting an open house session on Tuesday and are seeking your input for the Housing Production Plan (HPP) in this important opportunity. Join them to learn about the HPP, share your ideas at various activity stations, and help shape Amherst’s future housing goals! Pizza, snacks, and drinks will be provided. There will also be coloring activities and interactive materials for children. Tuesday, 4:00-6:30 pm in the Woodbury Room at the Jones Library. MORE

Cultural Council – Wednesday

The Cultural Council holds its final deliberation and vote on 2025 grants at its meeting on Wednesday evening. Wednesday, 6:00-8:00 pm on Zoom. MORE

Planning Board Public Hearing & Meeting – Wednesday

The Planning Board hosts a public hearing on Wednesday about a proposed subdivision plan at University Drive at Amity Street. After the hearing, the Board meets to continue its general discussion about housing. Wednesday, 6:30-9:00 pm on Zoom. MORE

Conservation Commission Public Hearing & Meeting – Wednesday

The Conservation Commission holds a public hearing on Wednesday about a Notice of Intent related to a project at 194 College St., and an Amended Notice of Intent related to the construction of a solar facility at the former Hickory Ridge site on West Pomeroy Lane. Zoning Board of Appeals Public Hearing & Meeting – Thursday

The Zoning Board of Appeals holds a public hearing on Thursday evening about two Wayfinders projects to build affordable housing at 31 South East St. and 70 Belchertown Rd. Thursday, 6:00-9:30 pm on Zoom. MORE

Cuppa Joe with Paul and Assistant Town Manager Dave Ziomek – Friday

Enjoy coffee and conversation at Friday’s Cuppa Joe with Amherst Town Manager Paul Bockelman and David Ziomek, Assistant Town Manager and Director of Conservation & Development. Ziomek grew up in Amherst and recently celebrated 20 years working for the Town. He oversees all conservation and planning initiatives including Hickory Ridge, Puffer’s Pond, and special projects across Town. Friday, 8:00-9:30 am at Cushman Market & Cafe. MORE

ARHS Cabaret! – Friday

Head to The Drake on Friday for an entertaining evening of skits and small group musical performances, featuring students from Amherst Regional High School! Guided Story Walk: Julius Lester Trail – Sunday

The North Amherst Library and the Hitchcock Center have teamed up for this Guided Story Walk! Join them at the Julius Lester Trail at Mill River Park to explore the book Bright Winter Night by Alli Brydon through movement, song, and a guided StoryWalk. This event is best for children ages 0-6.  Children must attend with an adult. Sunday, 10:00-11:00 am at Mill River Park. MORE

Coming Soon: ACT’s Production of Newsies!

Join Amherst Community Theater for an electrifying production of Disney’s Newsies, the Tony Award®-winning musical with music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Jack Feldman, and book by Harvey Fierstein. Inspired by the 1899 newsboys’ strike, this rousing tale of resilience, justice, and community is more relevant than ever in today’s fight for workers’ rights and equality. Our spirited, inclusive production features a dynamic cast of all-gendered newsies, reimagining the story’s heart with dynamic choreography and show-stopping music.
