Restorations & Rediscoveries: The Wages of Fear – Sunday

Amherst Cinema presents the new 4K restoration of the 1953 thriller The Wages of Fear on Sunday. In a squalid South American oil town, four desperate men sign on for a suicide mission to drive trucks loaded with nitroglycerin over a treacherous mountain route. As they ferry their explosive cargo to a faraway oil fire, each bump and jolt tests their courage, their friendship, and their nerves. The result is one of the greatest thrillers ever committed to celluloid, a white-knuckle ride from France’s legendary master of suspense, Henri-Georges Clouzot (DIABOLIQUE). Sunday, 1:00 pm at Amherst Cinema. MORE

Coming Soon: National Girls & Women in Sports Day – February 8

The Amherst College Athletics Department, in partnership with the Town of Amherst and Amherst Recreation Department, is proud to host National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) on Saturday, February 8, from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm at the Alumni Gym.

The program will kick off in Middleton Gymnasium at 11:30 am with some pizza and then a chat with current scholar-athletes followed by a dynamic stretch warm-up. Girls will then be divided into groups so they can try different sports and games through a continuous timed rotation. Parents are able to drop-off their children at 11:30 am and pick them up at the conclusion of the event (2:30 pm). For parents who choose to stay, there will be a yoga class for adults offered by Christine Paradis in the Friends of Amherst Athletics Room at 12:30 pm.
