This is a great service for the Amherst Current to provide! Was also happy to see the timely updates! Please also add a link on that page to the Town webpage on campaign finance reports so people don’t have to go hunting for it — and people should be aware of it!
Why? only candidates for election who have filed a statement of organization can accept donations — until that paperwork filed with Town Clerk, candidate can’t accept any checks or in kind contributions
(A political committee may not accept any contributions, make any expenditures or incur any liabilities until the treasurer qualifies for the office of treasurer by completing, signing and filing Form CPF M101.
Candidates without a committee must also file the M 101 form, with the “candidate only” box checked. The
committee portions of the form are not completed by a “candidate only.”)
And *none* of the new candidates have done it yet per https://www.amherstma.gov/1327/Campaign-Finance-Reports
Although it’s certainly possible they filed it at the Town Clerk’s office and due to vacation etc Town Clerk’s office is behind on getting them uploaded…
