It’s the first Monday of 2026 and we’re back with our roundup of the week’s events! Here are this week’s town government meetings, and cultural and recreational events that caught our eye.
Town Council Special Meeting – Monday
The newly-elected Town Council meets on Monday and will elect a President and Vice President. The Council also will receive a presentation of the final report from the Charter Review Committee and will discuss the appointment process for the Committees and other roles of the Town Council. Regional School Committee – Monday
The Regional School Committee (RSC) meets on Monday and will consider entering executive session to discuss strategy related to litigation by Doreen Reid, the District’s Director of Student Services. When the RSC returns to open session, they will discuss the FY27 budget process, including a revised projection of revenue and assessments for each member town.
The Amherst SC meets just before the Regional SC so that it can elect a new Chair, Vice Chair, and Secretary.

Catch ARHS varsity athletes in action at home this week! Boys Hockey vs. Chicopee on Tuesday at 5:00 pm (Orr rink). Boys & Girls Swimming vs. E. Longmeadow, Wednesday at 4:30 pm. Girls Basketball vs. Granby, Friday at 6:00 pm. MORE
Zoning Board of Appeals Public Hearing – Thursday
The ZBA hosts a public hearing Thursday about a request to relocate the driveway for a property at 485 Pine Street, from Pine Street to Hitching Post Road. Thursday, 6:00 pm on Zoom. MORE
ARHS Cabaret at The Drake – Thursday
Head to the Drake on Thursday for an entertaining evening of skits and small group musical performances, featuring students from Amherst Regional High School! We are so excited for this long-running annual tradition to take place at The Drake this year. A pair of MCs will weave together musical acts from a variety of genres, showcasing the many talents of the students in town. Thursday, 7:30 pm at The Drake. MORE

Head to Atkins Farms Country Market on Friday for coffee and conversation with Amherst Town Manager Paul Bockelman and David Ziomek, Assistant Town Manager and Director of Conservation & Development.
David grew up in Amherst and has dedicated over 20 years of service working for the Town. He oversees all conservation and planning initiatives including Hickory Ridge, Puffer’s Pond, Cherry Hill Golf Course, hunting regulations, and special projects across Town.
