Recreation Commission – Monday

The Recreation Commission meets on Monday to discuss forming a working group to explore opportunities to make the Cherry Hill public golf course more fiscally sound. They’ll also discuss the open space and recreation plan for the town. Monday, 6:00-7:30 pm on Zoom. MORE

Cinema Seminar: The Day the Earth Stood Still – Monday

On Monday, Amherst Cinema invites you to take a deep dive into new and familiar film worlds in its Cinema Seminar series. In this seminar, Nina Kleinberg explores the stories behind The Day the Earth Stood Still (screening after the seminar), Forbidden Planet, and Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Learn about the history and legacy of 1950s sci-fi, the culture and politics of Cold War America that influenced these films, the groundbreaking special effects of the era, and more. Tree Warden & Public Shade Tree Committee Hearing – Tuesday

The Tree Warden and the Public Shade Tree Committee will hold a hearing on Tuesday related to the proposed removal of several trees in Echo Hill for the proposed roundabouts on Heatherstone Road. Tuesday, 4:30-5:30 pm on Zoom. MORE

Veterans Breakfast for All – Friday

Twice a month on the first and third Fridays, CRESS hosts a veterans breakfast for the community. Let’s build a thriving veterans community ~ there are 387 Veterans in town! Make new friends, get to know Amherst Veterans and hear their stories. At each breakfast (bagel/donut/coffee), a veteran or veteran ally, will tell their personal story regarding military service. Friday, 8:00-9:00 am in the Bangs Community Center. Free. MORE

Community Safety Day – Saturday

On Saturday, head to Mill River Recreation Area for the Town’s Community Safety Day! Meet local first responders, forge friendships, and learn about public safety. Features include Touch-A-Truck, K9 demo, car seat inspections, Jaws of Life demo, tick/mosquito bite lab, meet-and-greet with CRESS responders, and information on bike safety, scam prevention, and more! Participants can also enjoy face painting, balloon twisting, and food from Holyoke Hummus! Saturday, 10:00 am-2:00 pm at Mill River Recreation. Free. MORE

With Love Music Event – Saturday

Citizen’s for Race Amity Now! and Original Ting Music present: “With Love!” an event to bring the community together to be joyful on purpose! Come join in an evening of food, vendors, kid activities, and raffle. Music by Deejay Theory. Accepting donations for the 80 Acres Free Store 413. Saturday, 5:00-8:00 pm in Kendrick Park. Free. MORE

Amherst Community Band Concert – Saturday

The Amherst Community Band will close out their summer concert series on Saturday with music that commemorates important anniversaries in 2024. Bring a lawn chair and food to enjoy the great music in Downtown Amherst! Saturday, 6:30-8:30 pm in Sweetser Park. Free. MORE
